Workshop Yandex launched 12 start-ups
Friday was the last stage of Tolstoy Summer Camp - a summer workshop for start-ups Yandex. Twelve teams that reached the final, presented their projects to investors. Some participants have already received offers. Yandex interest in three projects. "Many good ideas are lost because their owners can not find the money or associates. At the same time, there are companies who are looking for interesting projects and are willing to invest in them, - said Xenia Elkin, head of Tolstoy Summer Camp. - The purpose of the workshop is to help talented children to turn ideas into real projects and offer them to the market. And it seems like all we have: we can see the interest of investors to our finalists and are ready to take part in the fate of the three projects.
" Applications for participation in the workshop were sent more than a thousand people, of which 65 candidates were selected from Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, Kazakhstan and U.S.. At the first stage, participants had to break up into teams and introduce the concept of the project. Of the 22 teams formed to have reached the final twelve - after the presentation of the intermediate part of the project team left the studio, and the others began to develop prototypes. In the final, the team showed how web services and mobile applications.
Yandex interested in three projects: Speaking mind (application for audio news feed in social networks), Fivecards (application to store loyalty cards on your smartphone) and the Football second screen (the application for football fans). Tolstoy Summer Camp was held in the Moscow office of Yandex from July to August . During those two months, the workshop participants listened to lectures on how to build your business from scratch, why you need a marketing and PR, how to deal with legal issues and promote their projects. In addition, each team had a mentor - a mentor.
Among the lecturers and tutors were both employees of Yandex, as well as representatives of other companies: Sergey Belousov, founder of Runa Capital; Colette Ballou, founder and head of the agency Ballou PR; Daria Trushkina, Vice President of Business Development Game Insight; Marvin Liao, a former commercial director Yahoo in EMEA.
