Google won a strategic victory over the German publishers

German regulator sided with Google in the proceedings with a group of local publishers. Antimonopoly Office has declared that it will not investigate a complaint regarding the Internet search engine in connection with the application groups publishers unhappy that Google search engine provides access to their articles online. A number of German publishers, including Axel Springer and Burda, previously united consortium VG Media, requiring Google to pay for the use of their materials in the search index. 

Andreas Mundt, head of the German Federal Cartel Management, said in the complaint VG Media are not sufficient grounds to initiate proceedings. He also noted that according to German law, the publishers can limit the access of search engines to your content, but for the use of titles of articles and short clippings of them, no penalty will be imposed. German regulator also said that its representatives at the moment are in contact with both sides .
