Nintendo reveals the ninth consecutive quarter of losses

Japanese Nintendo released a quarterly report for the period April to June this year. The report shows that the new game console Nintedo Wii U sold in the market is bad enough, but the general results of hardly satisfactory. Obviously, Nintendo has faced serious competition from tablets and smartphones, and it has a negative impact on sales of the company. In part, the company can offset the precipitous fall in support of classic gamers who are still buying new series of games about a plumber Mario.

During the reporting quarter, Nintendo reported a net loss of 4.92 billion yen, or $ 50 million. Previously, the company showed a loss for the last eight quarters. Investors say that if the losses of the last two years can be attributed to the cooling of the audience's interest in the original console, Wii, then a sharp decline in interest in the new Wii U should seriously troubled companies. During the reporting quarter, the company sold only 3.6 million consoles Wii U, which is three times less than in 2006 accounted for sales of the original Wii, when so has been on sale for six months.

According to forecasts of Nintendo, this year the company will be able to sell 9.3 million Wii U, which looks rather ambitious, but far below the performance Wii. Nintendo President Satoru Iwata said that the company continues to deliver solutions for gamers who prefer to work with consoles for video games. While analysts point to the infidelity of this model and advise the company actively introduce mobile technology.
