Wikipedia tightens rules for paid editors
Non-profit organization Wikimedia Foundation, managing encyclopedia Wikipedia and related projects, announced yesterday that sets new rules associated with paid content editing. Under the new rules, all those who are rewarded for editing or that content should be left in your profile information about their relationships with commercial entities and clearly identify goals editing.
Recall that in October 2014 Wikimedia Foundation blocked accounts paid about 250 editors who were associated with PR-companies and wrote texts commissioned by commercial clients. In January this year Wikimedia dismissed employees who took bribes for correction of certain records.
Today encyclopedia Wikipedia is the sixth most visited site on the internet. In addition, the site declares itself completely non-profit and exists only on donations from users, refusing to pay editing content and advertising. Some of Wikipedia editors receive indirect remuneration, as they work in different galleries, libraries, archives and museums that allow them to write articles in their areas of expertise. The new directive is not aimed at those workers, but it is aimed at employees who are associated with specific commercial establishment.
