Hackers have started to attack the payment system Litecoin

Anti-virus company Eset today reported the discovery of a previously unknown type of malicious code designed to steal Litecoin - a derivative of the Bitcoin virtual currency. In Eset say that malware infects only Windows, trying to steal the files of digital wallets wallet.dat, which are used to store the programs that control Litecoin.

"Furthermore it is currently not very widespread, but Litecoin could become a target for attackers with growth popularity of the system and increase the user base, "- says Robert Lipowski, an antiviral expert Eset.

According to him, the malicious code sends the file to the wallet remote server under the control of the   attackers, but at the moment the host was disconnected because the server operator has notified of malicious activity.

Today the main application software to work with the program is Litecoin Litecoin-Qt, which has a function to encrypt purses. Thus, the attacker must still be the password to work with a stolen purse.
