SanDisk and Toshiba opened a joint factory

     Memory chip maker SanDisk and Japan's Toshiba has officially announced plans to build a new plant for the production of silicon wafers under the new memory chips NAND. The joint capacity will be located in Yokkaichi (Japan).

      In the market research firm Objective Analysis said that the deal was announced early in the second half of the year, while the end of 2013, analysts expect a significant number of similar agreements between manufacturers. reported that the new project Fab5 Phase 2 will be used for the production of substrates for 2D-and 3D-NAND chips.

      In SanDisk, and Toshiba said that according to their forecasts for the next few years, the industry finally move to the memory chips layered 3D-NAND, which offer a more dense deployment data, and higher storage capacity.

     Among Toshiba said that in the future, plants Fab5, Fab3 and Fab4 will be linked by an integrated production and transport base, which will simplify and reduce the cost of production, as well as significant savings in economies of scale.
