Vodafone admits the facts direct transfer of customer data

European telecommunications operator Vodafone on Friday admitted that in some countries the presence of the authorities require direct access to telecommunications networks Vodafone. At the same time, most of the countries in which there is a business Vodafone, request data through lawsuits or police orders, so the company clearly understands what data is transmitted to the authorities. Recall that the topic of observation by the authorities is the focus of public attention in the beginning of history with Edward Snowden.

In Vodafone say they respect the right of clients to the mystery, but also note that the company is forced to work in the legal field and to obey the laws, "created to protect national interests and public safety." The company said today that Vodafone operates in 29 countries. In most countries, law enforcement agencies can not be based on their own understanding of the situation the client to request data, but should only do so by the court or the supreme government body.

The company, however, note that there are countries where the security services are independently (and legally) to intercept phone calls, emails, SMS and chat users. Of the 29 countries in the last category were six. During the first in its history Report transparency Vodafone does not own assessment of law enforcement in such cases, but only informs about them after the fact.
