Acer had a loss in the second quarter

Taiwanese computer manufacturer Acer today announced the receipt of net loss in the second quarter of this year, which was due to rising investment costs of the company, as well as increased prices for components, primarily for DRAM-memory. In the reporting quarter net loss amounted to 343 million New Taiwan Dollars or U.S. $ 11.4 million, against a profit of $ 56 million Taiwan dollars a year earlier.

The company's revenue for the year decreased by 19% to 89.4 billion Taiwan dollars. During the second quarter shipments of new PCs Acer decreased from the same quarter of last year's figures by 32%. Among the five largest producers of computers is the biggest indicator of falling.

At present, Acer holds about 8% of the global PC market, and almost all of his income is generated through the sale of laptops, but the manufacturer is trying to diversify its sources of income. So, in June, Acer has shown an 8-inch tablet based on Windows and 5.7-inch Android-based smartphone.

 At Acer said that the company now has additional costs in connection with an investment in some new and innovative consumer products.
