IBM refreshes Power-line servers to Linux

      IBM today announced the release of a new family of linux-server, running processor-based Power. The new product line PowerLinux manufacturer uses the same technology that was previously used in the supercomputer Watson. The company said that PowerLinux solutions are suitable for use in the field of big data, Java-applications and public cloud environments. Company announced a new Linux-server PowerLinux 7R4, running on Power Systems and Cognitive filling Watson for predictive data calculations.

The company said that the new server is fully compatible with the new generation of business software and can work with the software that requires intensive computational load. The new servers are compatible with the decisions of Enterprise DB, Cognos Business Intelligence, and other products. As an operating system here can be used Suse Linux or Red Hat Linux. New server supports up to 4 processors or up to 32 cores. Together with the server, the company announced a tuned version of the database DB2, which is oriented to work with the new server.

In a statement, IBM said that the new product by 98% on the data format compatible with the Oracle Database and supports automatic data migration. servers will be delivered and the corporate version of the open source DBMS PostgreSQL.
