The future of technology - from the suit of "Iron Man" to the Liquid Robot

We have already written a lot about the various robots and technology in the pages relax.ru, and now would like to offer you a selection of eight of the most interesting projects that previously could only be found in science fiction movies, but will soon be able to become a reality and find their application in daily life ...

1. Exoskeleton

One of the projects funded by DARPA (Defense Advanced Agency Research Projects USA), who descended from the pages of science fiction novels in the engineering lab - XOS exoskeleton is a defense contractor Raytheon. The closest analogue is the Iron Man suit. The soldier, dressed in an exoskeleton can easily lift 100-pound weight or punching wooden walls of tens of centimeters without much effort.

 2. Tiny flying robots

DARPA created the first unmanned aircraft drones that changed modern warfare. Now she is trying to reduce them to the size of the bird or nasekomog. In the past year, for example, a military contractor Aeronvironment introduced its first development, subsidized DARPA, - Robot Nano Hummingbird, configured as a hummingbird. It weighs 18 grams and is capable of flying at a speed of up to 11 miles per hour.

 3. Running robots are

four-legged, like a donkey Big Dog has become one of the best viral videos YouTube in 2008. But his new, more like a spider "clone", known as the Cheetah, leaving fellow behind. The robot, created by the contractor Boston Dynamics, can run at speeds over 28 miles per hour - faster than Usain Bolt.

4. Controlled Shark

Sharks, with their mobility and keenly tuned ear for odors and currents can act as silent mobile underwater sensors. DARPA idea is similar to the plot of the movie Thunderball - the company hopes to place in the brain of sharks neyroimplantaty to and control of predators, and read performance.

 5. Liquid Robots

DARPA, no doubt, tends to embody the nightmare of the Terminator - a robot T-1000. But as long as it does only the first steps, experimenting with robots, created with the use of materials that are able to change the density due to the pressure. As a result, such a robot will be able to penetrate through cracks or holes in the fence and take shape on the other side of the obstacle.

 6. Contact Lens augmented reality

Forget Google Glass. DARPA is working on integrating the technology of augmented reality directly in the eyes of the soldiers. The program SCENICC it has entered into a contract with a contractor Innovega iOptiks to create new lenses with built-in display and it is expected that they will be projected color images and even videos.

7. Flying machines and submarines

DARPA, seems tired of the differences between air, sea and land vehicles. One of the projects of the agency aims to create a ship that can fly above the water, and when approaching the object of attack or reconnaissance dive, so as not to be detected. In another project, which is called the Transformer X, developed multi-functional machine that can turn into a plane with vertical take-off and fly for hundreds of miles.

8. Planes that do not need to land

DARPA sees a new category of air vehicles, a cross between air drones and reconnaissance satellites, which seemingly not revolve in the orbit of the Earth, but do not need the landing. The project, called SolarEagle, funded by DARPA, aims to construct a hyper-efficient aircraft that can stay in the air non-stop for five years, using solar energy.
