Microsoft cuts prices for Surface RT

Microsoft Corp. reduces prices for internet tablet Surface RT by 30% in order to make another attempt to attract customers from users of Google and Apple. Thus, in the U.S. the cheapest model will cost $ 349, whereas originally it was sold for $ 499. Exactly the same model with a keyboard-cover will cost $ 449, whereas initially it was worth $ 599. A model with twice the memory now costs $ 499 (without keyboard), against $ 549 previously.

Analysts say that the first tablet to Microsoft was not able to attract the attention of customers and business users since its debut. According to IDC, the the first two quarters of sales Microsoft sold only 900,000 tablets, despite the explosive growth in sales of tablets on the market as a whole. Last week, the head of Microsoft's Steve Ballmer announced a significant reorganization of the company in order to reformat the software giant and a focus on mobile and cloud technology and server products.
